What's better a pontoon? A scissor or bunk style trailer?

For any tritoon the answer will be a bunk style trailer because it will work better for all travel and be more reasonably priced. A scissor style / crank up trailer for a tritoon is over $8,000 and is not as comfortable to tow behind. The advantage of the scissor style trailer is that you can drop the boat on the ground and pull the trailer all the way out and store it elsewhere. The scissor style is a little tipier because it has a more narrow wheel base. Another advantage is of the scissor style trailer is that it will crank down lower than a bunk style can go. If your garage door is less than 8' you'll want a scissor style so it can be stored inside. Keep in mind for a 20 foot boat you'll add the engine and transom of the pontoon so the depth of the garage you'll need for a pontoon might be 20 foot+1 foot transom +2.5 feet engine. You might need a 23.5" deep garage for this 20' pontoon after you pull the trailer out. 

The biggest advantage to the bunk style trailer is that it's really easy to tow. It does sit about 8'+/- high with the pontoon on it so a height restriction would
be the only reason to not get a bunk style pontoon trailer. The bunk style trailer is also easier to get into because it has a stairway up the front for easy boarding. As far as backing it into the water and a concern with how deep the lake is, we've never had anyone return a bunk trailer because they didn't have enough water to launch or pull it out. In theory a scissor trailer does sit a little lower so it's maybe a slight advantage there. Over the last 5 years we've sold 90% bunk style trailers for both pontoons and tritoons.
